3.27.09 journal

Hopefully what I got out of the two articals isnt too off of what the real thesis of the two really are. In the close reaing I saw many of the same terms. Words like evil, god, and basically many negitive things. In The Second Coming, the author wrote, "A shape with lion Body and head of man." I think that is similar to the online book because it kind of says how people can be both good and bad. Also, it used the phrase "slouching toward Bethleham." Which would be good meaing leaning toward God, and the right thing. The poem wasnt too difficult to read. However, the online book was very hard to read, but I tried to read it slowly, and more than once.

  1. Reading slowly is good; it's also important to read strategically. A sermon or essay like Sermo Lupi lends itself to strategic reading. Make sure you understand the first paragraph and then think of questions you expect the rest of the piece will answer. You'll feel smart when you get an answer, which improves understanding and makes it easier to keep reading.
